Vintage 1950s PY Napco Anthropomorphic Mushroom Salt & Pepper Shaker Set
These little guys are absolutely delightful — a rare, authentic 1950s PY Napco anthropomorphic mushroom salt and pepper shaker set that any mid-century ceramic collector would love to find. One sweetly smiles while the other gives a cheeky wink, and both sport crisp black-and-white formal collars that give them all the personality in the world. Rich hand-painted speckled brown caps, creamy stalks, and that unmistakable mid-century charm.
What makes this set special is the provenance. The bottom displays the coveted PY clover mark stamped under the glaze, the black stamped model number 1A2065, and the original silver foil “A Napco Ceramic – Japan” label still beautifully intact. These are the real deal — not a reproduction.
Made in Japan by the PY Miyao factory for the National Potteries Corporation (Napco). Each shaker stands 2⅞” tall. Cork stoppers are missing. Excellent condition with vibrant original paint and minimal age-appropriate wear consistent with age and use.
