Rare Vintage PY Miyao Napco Japan Spotted Pony Salt & Pepper Shakers
This sweet pair of 1950s PY Miyao spotted pony shakers is the kind of find that stops collectors in their tracks. One sits sweetly while the other stands proud, both with hand-painted white bodies covered in retro black spots, pastel pink and blue flower garlands around their necks, and those gorgeous bold yellow-orange manes and looped tails. Their big, expressive eyes are pure mid-century magic.
Both pieces are stamped “Japan” on the bottom and come with their original cork stoppers intact. The paint is beautifully preserved — the floral wreaths, facial details, and vivid manes are all bright and crisp.
Made in Japan by the PY Miyao factory for the National Potteries Corporation (Napco). The tallest shaker stands 3¾” tall. Excellent condition with light wear consistent with age and use.
