Vintage 1950s Anthropomorphic Fawn Deer Salt & Pepper Shakers - Made in Japan
This sweet pair of 1950s anthropomorphic fawn salt and pepper shakers is pure mid-century charm. Both little deer are tucked in a resting pose with the most soulful oversized “big eye” expression — the kind of wide-eyed innocence that defined post-war Japanese kitsch ceramics at their most endearing. Warm caramel and cream tones with soft pink inner ears and delicate black hooves.
Both pieces are stamped “Japan” on the bottom and include clear plastic stoppers. Glazed ceramic construction. Each shaker measures approximately 2½” x 2½”. Excellent vintage condition — no chips, cracks, or major paint loss. Please note: one shaker has an area on the ear where the pink paint was not applied during production — the glaze is fully intact over it, confirming this is a factory characteristic and not a chip or damage.
