Antique Commemorative USS Maine Battleship Demitasse Spoon
This beautiful antique demitasse spoon commemorates the US Maine Battleship that was sunk in Havana Harbor, Cuba in 1898. "Remember the Maine! To hell with Spain!" became the rally cry for action that later became the Spanish-American War.
The bowl of the spoon show a beautifully detailed rendering of the USS Maine. The handle has an elegant floral and scroll design.
This antique silver plate demitasse spoon measures 4 1/4 inches long. Marked, "Geo. E. Homer, Boston." A little bit of wear to the silver plate. Still lovely.
